How am I supposed to react when the teenager that I pay to babysit tells me that she is not going to her 7th period because she is too sore but she is there to watch my 15 mo. old son?  I am puzzled.  I had left a message for her on her cell asking if she was available to watch my son, so that I could put in some hours at work.  I asked her to call me back, rather simple I thought.  Then without a call she shows up at my home an hour before she should be out of school and says she is to sore for dance class.  I was non-plussed, how do you react.  Am I obligated to take any action at all other than to take advantage of the child care?  This particular babysitter is the daughter of a friend and a lady whom I deeply respect.  I know she doesn't approve of her daughter cutting class for any reason, much less because she is still sore from shots two days ago.  But if she is told that the babysitter received a call at school and thought she would be super nice and rush right over, the lady will feel obligated not to be to harsh.  I told her that I was tired and that if she was sore I didn't want her to have to deal with the baby.  He's a handfull even when you are 100%, etc... and let my boss know that I wouldn't be in.
